Off-Season Events

Governors Cup and RiverRage are the two off-season events our team attended this season. Off-season events are events for having competitions without it counting to anything, giving all teams a chance to have fun together. Going to these events gives students time to have fun, learn, and gain opportunities. At Governors Cup, our team won the Governor's Award, meaning that seniors get a full semester of paid tuition at any New Hampshire college. At RiverRage, new students were allowed to drive the robot. Even though they did not have much experience, they were excellent at scoring, climbing, and defending in the game.

Governors' Cup 2023

Our team, Chop Shop 166, competed in the 5th annual Governor’s Cup at Plymouth State University last Saturday. At the event, Chop Shop made it to the final bracket and received the coveted Governor’s Award.

Congratulations to our seniors, Lucas, Nathan C, Nathan M, Joe, and Shaun!

During the morning we competed in four qualification matches and placed 4th overall with a record of 3 wins and 1 loss. Due to our placement we got to pick an Alliance for the rest of the matches. We invited The Crusaders (238) and Mayhem Robotics (8724) to join our alliance.

To reach the championship bracket, we competed in an additional 5 matches with our alliance partners, with a record of 4 wins and 1 loss. Had vigorous competition against the number 1 seated team and their alliance partners, where we placed 2nd overall.

“We would like to thank our fellow alliance members for helping us reach second place in the competition,” said Tim B, Captain of team 166, Chop Shop. “We look forward to seeing all of our fellow FIRST Teams at our next event, River Rage, on October 28th at Memorial High School in Manchester.”
