On April 16th to the 19th, Chop Shop traveled to Houston to compete in the FIRST World Championships. At this event there were 601 teams from the USA, Canada, Mexico, Armenia, Türkiye, Israel, Australia, Dominican Republic, France, Brazil, Chinese Taipei, India, Poland, China, Panama, and Netherlands. We placed 25th in qualifications out of 76 teams competing in Curie from around the globe with a record of 6 wins and 4 losses.
During this event we were selected as the 3rd pick of Alliance 5 captained by North Gwinnett Robotics 1771 from Suwanee, Georgia, USA. The Alliance was rounded out by Toolcats 3276 from New London- Spicer, Minnesota, USA, and 3478 PrepaTec-LamBot from San Luis Potsí, Mexico. After our alliance was assembled we fought hard against other alliances going 7-1 during the playoffs and emerging from the depths of the lower division as Curie Champs. Winning the Curie Division sent the team to the Einstein playoffs to determine the ultimate World Champion winning Alliance. On Einstein we went 2-2 ending our team's historic season 4th in the world. This was Chop Shop's first trip to Einstein in our 31 year history. On another historic note our alliance partner LanceBot was the first Mexican team to make it to Einstein in FIRST history.
